Welcome to the ChaoticMUX website! This website is a companion to the online community of ChaoticMUX, located at port 4201 of chaoticmux.org and accessible via telnet. In addition to providing documents of interest to our current and potential players, it is also our intention to provide material of interest to the wider MUX community. We are planning to expand this site a great deal in the months ahead, so check back once in a while, and if there's something you're burning to see here, let us know (after you've doused yourself with a fire extinguisher, of course). If you've never heard of a MUX before, the links listed to the side under "What is this MUX thing, anyway?" are intended for your enlightenment. Even if you know what MUX is, you might be interested in what we have to say. Also, feel free to browse the contributed content under "Who We Are" to get to know us better. If you want to get a character on ChaoticMUX, use the character request form (currently under construction) to sign up. If you want to add your home page to our webring, use this form. You probably won't want to join our webring unless you're already on ChaoticMUX. No one's stopping you, but people will look at you funny, and we don't want that. If you don't care about our game and just want to grab a copy of our source code, that's okay too. Or if you want your game added to MudNet, you can take care of that here. Please note, however, that the MudNet team and the ChaoticMUX staff are two separate (although overlapping) groups - don't bother one with the problems of the other! If you're a player on ChaoticMUX, this is your site too! Tell us what you want to see here. Contribute content! Court fame and fortune! Or just click around a bunch with a dazed look on your face, if that's what suits your fancy.

We're running on a new machine - see the brief history for the details, if you're curious. Also brought the stats there up to date. Note that the MudNet webpages are now being hosted from mudnet.org. The photo archives are almost up to date with new submissions, there's just one or two people I haven't gotten to yet.

Check out the new look for the quotes index - hope you like it. Also, there's a new episode of Professor Trivial, believe it or not. And look out for several new photos as I begin to catch up with my backlog of submissions.

I've entirely reimplemented the existing website in PHP. This will make it easier for me to update and maintain, since I can (for example) put a new image in someone's directory and it'll automatically appear in the index for that directory, without me having to edit any files or execute any scripts by hand. Pretty Nifty! Anyway, the only difference is that files have a .php3 suffix instead of .html. You can still use the .html links, though. Now that this is done, hopefully I'll get motivated to do all the site expansion I've been planning for the past year...

I've finished reconstructing the art gallery, including new material from Destiny and Half-Ralf! There are also corresponding icon links listed in the player weblinks.

In the interest of speedy loading, the player weblinks no longer load thumbnails. Instead, a simple icon indicates whether or not photos of the person are available.

As if I didn't have anything better to do, I've now implemented a style sheet on this site. I've tried not to go nuts with it, and besides, it's a lot of work and a big pain in the butt. But I think stuff is easier to read now. Maybe you don't. If so, let me know...

Well, things have been pretty slow around here lately, but I haven't forgotten about this site. I've finally gotten around to linking in the group photo archive now that there's more than one entry in it. So if you were missing the photos from the summer '98 gathering, you can finally view them again, and the pics from last Thanksgiving are brand spanking new, so check 'em out!

Alierak has officially joined the TinyMUSH 3.0 development team! Congratulate him when you see him. It'll be a while, though, before we're ready to convert to the new server ourselves; keep an eye on our source code page for the status of that project.

After a couple of solid weeks work in Photoshop, the photo archive is ready to be unveiled! I haven't linked in the group pictures from the summer of 1998 yet, but I'll get around to it. In the meantime, you finally get to see what some of us look like! I've also linked people's photos where available into the page of player webpage links. Enjoy!

*gulp* Well, this is it folks, I'm taking the site live to replace the old pages at www.chaoticmux.org. Let me know how you like it! It's still under heavy construction, but the active links all work. A word about the colored bullets on the site overview: those are just there to let me know what is basically finished (green), mostly finished but waiting for something else (yellow), in the middle of being rewritten (orange), or not even started yet but planned (dark grey). They'll go away once I'm done.
